I spent my childhood wondering if the neighborhood stray was actually a shapeshifter and whether Forest Lawn had a secret vampire court. My fascination with the supernatural hiding in plain sight never went away – it evolved into writing stories about what might lurk in the shadows of our modern world.
These days, I split my time between two very different worlds. During the day, I work with precision instruments and metal alloys, machining forged metal into engine parts where every millimeter matters. At night, I trade that mechanical precision for magical mayhem, populating Charleston’s historic streets with ancient werewolves seeking redemption and vampire fight clubs hidden beneath seemingly ordinary nightclubs. The attention to detail carries over though – whether I’m measuring engine components or mapping out supernatural territories in Charleston’s French Quarter.
My writing draws heavily from my love of mythology and folklore, particularly Irish legends, Eastern European vampire tales, and world history (right now I’m focusing on North African history). I’m especially intrigued by how these ancient myths might be adapted to modern cities, where old magic might linger.
When I’m not writing or machining, you’ll find me fueling my creativity through different forms of storytelling. Books have also been a lifelong passion: I love curling up with a good story and discovering hours have magically gone by – only to realize I still have chores that need doing. I’m also an avid gamer who appreciates both the epic narratives of RPGs and the quick thrills of action games. My cat seems to think he can be my personal editor. He’s probably not a shapeshifter, but I haven’t completely ruled it out yet.
I’m currently working on my first novel, an urban fantasy that explores themes of family, forgiveness, and finding belonging in a world where nothing is quite what it seems. It combines my love of Irish mythology with Charleston’s rich history, creating a story where ancient magic collides with modern life in unexpected ways.
Want to get in touch? I’d love to hear from fellow urban fantasy enthusiasts, mythology nerds, or anyone who’s ever wondered if that shadow they saw move was really just a shadow.
